Job summary

The Community Builders in Chicago is seeking a Service Technician II to maintain apartments and grounds, respond to service requests, and support property operations.

Under the Service Maintenance Manager, you will diagnose and repair appliances, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC, while maintaining a strong customer service focus.

This position has a requirement of five days a week in office and includes weekend/on-call duties.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 3 years of advanced hands-on repair experience in two or more building trades preferred.
• REAC/HQS experience preferred.
• Industry-Trade certifications/degrees (NAHMS, CAMT, OSHA, HVAC) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair appliances, carpentry, hardware accessories, masonry, painting, plus basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.
• Respond to service requests and on-call emergencies promptly and professionally.
• Complete or monitor preventive maintenance tasks for building systems and components.
• Prepare and repair vacant apartments for new resident move-ins.
• Maintain grounds and common spaces through cleaning, trash management, landscaping, and snow removal.
• Prepare and make repairs for REAC/HQS inspections and audits.
• Maintain maintenance shop and inventory with a safety mindset and PPE.
• Available for weekend work, on-call rotation and emergency service duties.
• Assist Maintenance Supervisor with providing technical guidance to Maintenance Tech I.
