Job summary

The Community Builders, Inc. is seeking a Service Technician II to join our maintenance team in Washington, DC. You will respond to service requests, prepare apartments for turnover, and maintain exterior and interior spaces with a strong trades skill set.

You will work independently and with the team to ensure high-quality upkeep and positive resident experiences. Responsibilities include repairs to appliances, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and grounds, along with on-call availability.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Trade school or 3+ years in property management or hospitality preferred.
• REAC/HQS experience preferred.
• Industry certifications such as NAHMS, CAMT, OSHA, HVAC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair appliances, carpentry, hardware, masonry, painting, plus basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.
• Respond to service requests and on-call emergencies promptly and professionally.
• Complete or monitor vendor preventive maintenance on building systems and components.
• Prepare and repair vacant apartments for new move-ins.
• Maintain grounds and common spaces with cleaning, trash, landscaping, and snow removal.
• Support REAC/HQS inspections and audits.
• Maintain shop/inventory with safety practices and PPE.
• Be available for weekend work, on-call rotation, and emergencies.
• Assist Maintenance Supervisor with technical guidance to Maintenance Tech I.
