Job summary

The Community Builders Inc. in Chicago is seeking a Service Technician II to promptly respond to service requests and perform apartment turnover work, while maintaining grounds and site systems. This role emphasizes strong customer service and independent problem solving in a multi-trade environment.

You will handle interior/exterior repairs, coordinate with managers, and support safety and compliance practices across the property, including REAC/HQS readiness.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 3 years of advanced hands-on repair experience in two or more building trades.
• REAC/HQS experience preferred.
• Industry-Trade certifications preferred (NAHMS, CAMT, OSHA, HVAC).

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair appliances, carpentry, hardware, masonry, painting, and basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.
• Respond to service requests and on-call emergencies promptly and professionally.
• Complete or monitor preventive maintenance tasks for systems, equipment and components.
• Prepare repairs for vacant apartments to be ready for new residents move-ins.
• Maintain grounds and common spaces including cleaning, trash, landscaping, and snow removal.
• Prepare and repair for REAC/HQS inspections and audits.
• Maintain maintenance shop and inventory with safety mindset and PPE.
• Weekend work, on-call rotation and emergency duties as needed.
• Assist Maintenance Supervisor with technical guidance to Maintenance Tech I.
