Job summary

Guardant Health in Palo Alto seeks a Service Engineer II, Screening Automation, to support its Shield Screening program and ensure high instrument uptime across automated systems in a regulated lab setting.

You will install, calibrate, repair, and qualify instruments including Hamilton Liquid Handlers and Illumina Sequencers, while documenting activities per GDP and guiding other engineers and lab personnel.

Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering or science with relevant work experience.
• Experience operating and troubleshooting listed instruments in a regulated lab.
• Experience authoring and executing PM/IQ/OQ/repair docs.
• Experience leading training for engineers and lab personnel.
• Experience in CLIA/GMP regulated environments.
• Ability to communicate across diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair, and qualify laboratory instruments (IOPQ).
• Monitor instrument metrics and support cross-functional teams.
• Ensure instrument uptime and compliant service documentation.
• Evaluate trends and propose long-term solutions.
• Develop SOPs, checklists, and service bulletins.
• Manage maintenance and calibration systems.
• Support end-users and troubleshoot issues.
• Provide after-hours and weekend coverage as needed.
• Communicate with third-party service providers.
