Job summary

Guardant Health, Inc. is seeking a Service Engineer II, Screening Automation in Palo Alto to install, maintain and repair advanced lab instruments including API, library prep systems, and NGS sequencers. You will ensure instrument uptime and quality documentation in a regulated environment.

The role requires hands-on technical skills, ability to learn new tech quickly, and strong communication to coordinate with internal teams and external vendors. Hybrid work model with onsite days.

Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering or a scientific discipline.
• 2–5 years of relevant field service experience.
• Experience operating and troubleshooting Hamilton Liquid Handlers, Illumina sequencers, Agilent Bravo platform/heads, Biotek MultiFlos, Precise robotic arm, centrifuges and other DNA quantification instruments.
• Experience authoring and executing PM, IQ, OQ, repair, and other service-related documentation.
• Experience working in CLIA and GMP regulated environments; strong cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair, and qualify laboratory instruments (IOPQ) to maximize uptime.
• Monitor instrument metrics and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
• Prepare SOPs, checklists, and service bulletins.
• Provide after-hours and weekend support as needed.
• Communicate effectively with third-party service providers.
