Job summary

Xpress Global Systems (XGS) in Batavia, IL seeks a Service Center Manager to oversee customer service, dispatch, warehousing and safety for a city operations service center.

You will supervise terminal operations, optimize routes and staffing, ensure compliance with DOT/OSHA, manage vendor agreements, and maintain equipment. The role requires leadership, strong communication, and hands-on management of daily freight flow.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Transportation Management with 2+ years supervisory experience, or 5+ years in a similar supervisory role.
• Strong interpersonal, leadership, and coaching abilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Understanding of transportation and LTL operations; DOT and OSHA knowledge preferred.
• AS400 experience preferred.
• Forklift certification preferred.
• Proven leadership in fast-paced environments.
• Knowledge of LTL industry and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct terminal operations, including loading/unloading and facilities management.
• Review and control all service center operations to maximize profits.
• Create driver routes and dispatch to optimize asset utilization.
• Interface with Linehaul to ensure timely arrivals and departures.
• Assist linehaul with day-to-day optimization at service center level.
• Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and preventive maintenance schedules.
• Maintain service center housekeeping and inventory control.
• Develop staffing plans and schedules based on freight volumes.
• Identify and negotiate vendor agreements and coordinate needed repairs.
• Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures.
• Participate in training and onboarding.
