Job summary

Vanguard Truck Centers in Cahokia, IL is seeking a Service Department leader to recruit and manage qualified service technicians, enforce the Volvo Uptime workflow, and uphold safety and quality standards.

You will lead training, conduct performance reviews, ensure repairs are appropriately assigned, and drive customer satisfaction while coordinating with other departments to maintain a safe, efficient shop.

Qualifications

• Two to four years related experience and/or training.
• CDL license to road test trucks; time allowed to gain it if not held.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, manuals, and procedures.
• ASE Certifications are preferred.
• State Emission Certification and Vehicle Inspector Certification preferred.
• Valid Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, hires, and motivates qualified service technicians.
• Be the Uptime expert and enforce the Volvo Uptime workflow.
• Assist technicians in developing their skills.
• Comply with federal, state, and local regulations affecting service operations.
• Ensure manufacturer training is delivered; conduct regular performance reviews.
• Allocate repairs to technicians fairly; provide technical support as needed.
• Ensure repairs are billed correctly and progress is tracked daily.
• Maintain shop safety, cleanliness, and equipment condition.
• Foster customer follow-up and resolve complaints within 24 hours.
• Monitor productivity and payroll records; coordinate with other departments.
