Job description

About Us

At Smith Ford, we take pride in delivering dependable automotive care and building long-lasting relationships with our local community. We operate with a simple focus: treating people right, providing honest service, and maintaining a welcoming, supportive dealership culture.

Position Overview

We are looking for an organized, customer-focused Service Writer / Service Advisor to join our team. As the primary point of contact between our customers and repair technicians, you will play a key role in keeping our shop running smoothly.

If you are a great communicator with strong organizational skills and a drive to help people, we want to talk to you! Previous dealership or automotive service experience is a plus, but not strictly required—we are willing to train the right person with the right attitude and customer service skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet customers warmly, listen carefully to their vehicle concerns, and create detailed service repair orders.

  • Act as the liaison between customers and service technicians, clearly explaining diagnostic results, necessary repairs, and maintenance recommendations.

  • Provide accurate cost estimates and routine updates on vehicle status throughout the repair process.

  • Schedule service appointments and manage workflow to maintain shop efficiency.

  • Review completed repair orders with customers and process payments accurately.

  • Follow up with customers post-service to ensure satisfaction and build repeat business.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience: Previous automotive service experience is helpful, but not required. Strong background in retail, customer service, or administrative roles transfers well!

  • Strong Communication: Ability to explain technical vehicle concepts in plain, clear language to customers.

  • Organized & Multi-tasker: Highly detail-oriented with the ability to handle phone calls, walk-in customers, and paperwork simultaneously.

  • Driven & Dependable: Excellent work ethic, problem-solving mindset, and positive attitude.

  • Computer Skills: Basic computer proficiency for handling repair order software and scheduling systems.

  • Valid Driver’s License: Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

What We Offer
  • Competitive Compensation: Hourly base pay plus performance incentives based on experience.

  • Paid Training: On-the-job training and mentorship to get you up to speed on Ford systems and service processes.

  • Employee Discounts: Discounts on vehicle purchases, parts, and service.

  • Supportive Culture: Work in a close-knit, respectful local dealership where your contribution directly impacts our success.
