Job summary

ExplorUS is hiring a Server for Shenandoah National Park's Shenandoah Hospitality operations in Stanley, VA. This seasonal role reports to the Restaurant Manager in the Food & Beverage department and focuses on delivering outstanding guest service in a fast-paced environment.

The position requires a High School Diploma (or equivalent) and ServSafe certification; 1 year of restaurant experience is preferred. Start dates vary by lodge with extended seasons through late fall.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year in restaurant establishment.
• ServSafe Certification required.
• Resort/National Park concession experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take orders accurately and relay to the kitchen using POS.
• Deliver food and beverages in a timely and friendly manner.
• Prepare checks, process payments, and make change.
• Ensure compliance with relevant alcohol service regulations.
• Provide courteous service throughout the meal.
• Assist with front-of-house duties as needed.
• Meet business requirements per Duties Checklist.

Hourly rate of pay: $9.30 + tips

Summary of Position:Responsible for serving food and/or beverages in a timely, friendly and efficient manner in the company’s continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately take orders from guests, submit to kitchen using Point-of-Sales (POS) software, deliver food and drinks, bus tables or assist busser/runner
• Knowledge of restaurant and bar menu promotions and specials
• In an honest and timely manner, prepare checks, process credit cards, accept and make accurate change for cash payments
• Ensure alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages are served in accordance with Federal, State, Local regulations and Company procedures
• Provide timely, courteous service to all guests throughout the meal service
• Set tables, polish glasses, prepare workstations and other side work as assigned
• Accurately prepare sales and tip reports at shift’s end, deposit cash and credit card receipts
• Understand Company ISO (Environmental & Quality) management systems, Health and Safety standards, policies, goals and initiatives and meet the specific responsibilities within these areas
• Complete other front of house duties such as host, and busser- food runner as needed to meet business requirements
• Other duties per Duties Checklist and as requested

Position Requirements:

• Obtain ServSafe Certification in accordance with Company F&B policy
• Excellent customer service and people skills
• Must be able to work a variety of day, night, weekend, holiday shifts
• Must have excellent communication skills and be able to count change and reconcile paperwork
• Majority of shift will be spent on feet in a fast-paced environment, in close proximity to other people

Education and Experience:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience: Minimum (1) year in a restaurant establishment
Resort/National Park Concession preferred
