Job summary

Hilton Kansas City Country Club Plaza is seeking a part-time Server for evening shifts to deliver exceptional dining experiences. You will greet guests, present menus, and guide them through our modern cuisine offerings while maintaining high service standards and proper beverage service.

This role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and a passion for hospitality. The position offers opportunities for advancement through the Management Development Program and benefits including health and travel

Qualifications

• Prior Food Service experience is ideal, but willing to train.
• Excellent English communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure.
• Knowledge of cash handling and retail math.

Responsibilities

• Prepare restaurant tables with attention to sanitation and order.
• Attend to customers upon entrance to the restaurant.
• Present menus and be knowledgeable of menu contents, recipes, and offerings.
• Serve and assist customers with selecting food/beverages as needed.
• Verify guests' identification for alcohol service.
• Take and serve food/drinks orders and deliver checks.
• Cooperate with serving and kitchen staff and maintain cleanliness.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare restaurant tables with special attention to sanitation and order
• Attend to customers upon entrance to the restaurant
• Present menus and be knowledgeable of menu contents, recipes, and restaurant offerings
• Serve and assist customers with selecting food/beverages as needed
• Verify guests' identification to ensure they meet age requirements for alcohol consumption
• Have basic knowledge of menu prices, composition of items, preparation techniques, and time of preparation. Must be familiar with daily specials and offers to guests
• Make suggestions based on guest preferences
• Take and serve food/drinks orders
• Arrange table settings
• Keep tables clean and tidy at all times
• Deliver checks and collect payments
• Return to each table periodically to ascertain whether additional items are desired
• Cooperate and communicate with all serving and kitchen staff
• Adhere to all relevant health department rules/regulations and all customer service guidelines
• Dress in appropriate event staff uniform at all times, while also maintaining professional appearance
• Refill condiments and server station supplies at end of each shift. May require performing other shift closing tasks to be determined by Director of Food & Beverage
• Act with the highest level of integrity in every decision

Requirements:

• Prior Food Service experience is ideal, but willing to train the right person. We are dedicated to thoroughly training & developing our team into hotel leaders through interactive teamwork in a positive work environment!
• Knowledge of retail math for handling cash transactions
• A genuine passion for the culinary arts, food, and beverage, with a willingness to continuously learn and grow
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build genuine connections with guests and colleagues
• Familiarity with basic math skills for measuring ingredients and calculating drink prices
• Ability to handle food safely and follow proper food handling procedures
• Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure, ensuring efficient service even during peak dining hour
• Excellent English communication skills and able to read, write and speak fluently
