Job summary

Hilton Kansas City Country Club Plaza is seeking a friendly Server for a part-time morning position. You will welcome guests, curate a dining experience, and guide guests through our menu in a fast-paced, people-focused team.

This role offers advancement opportunities through the Management Development Program, with potential to move into Banquet Captain, Catering Coordinator, F&B Supervisor or Manager. TEAM benefits include health plans, travel discounts, and paid time off.

• Experience in food service preferred, but training provided.
• Excellent English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare restaurant tables with sanitation and order.
• Attend to customers upon entrance to the restaurant.
• Present menus and be knowledgeable about offerings.
• Serve and assist guests with selecting food/beverages.
• Verify guests' ages for alcohol service.
• Maintain knowledge of prices, items, and specials.
• Take and serve orders and clear tables.
• Cooperate with kitchen and serving staff.
• Adhere to health regulations and customer service guidelines.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare restaurant tables with special attention to sanitation and order
• Attend to customers upon entrance to the restaurant
• Present menus and be knowledgeable of menu contents, recipes, and restaurant offerings
• Serve and assist customers with selecting food/beverages as needed
• Verify guests' identification to ensure they meet age requirements for alcohol consumption
• Have basic knowledge of menu prices, composition of items, preparation techniques, and time of preparation. Must be familiar with daily specials and offers to guests
• Make suggestions based on guest preferences
• Take and serve food/drinks orders
• Arrange table settings
• Keep tables clean and tidy at all times
• Deliver checks and collect payments
• Return to each table periodically to ascertain whether additional items are desired
• Cooperate and communicate with all serving and kitchen staff
• Adhere to all relevant health department rules/regulations and all customer service guidelines
• Dress in appropriate event staff uniform at all times, while also maintaining professional appearance
• Refill condiments and server station supplies at end of each shift. May require performing other shift closing tasks to be determined by Director of Food & Beverage
• Act with the highest level of integrity in every decision

Requirements:

• Prior Food Service experience is ideal, but willing to train the right person. We are dedicated to thoroughly training & developing our team into hotel leaders through interactive teamwork in a positive work environment!
• Knowledge of retail math for handling cash transactions
• A genuine passion for the culinary arts, food, and beverage, with a willingness to continuously learn and grow
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build genuine connections with guests and colleagues
• Familiarity with basic math skills for measuring ingredients and calculating drink prices
• Ability to handle food safely and follow proper food handling procedures
• Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure, ensuring efficient service even during peak dining hour
• Excellent English communication skills and able to read, write and speak fluently
