Hilton Garden Inn Washington DC/U.S. Capitol is seeking a friendly Server to curate memorable dining experiences for guests in a fast-paced setting. You will showcase our menu, assist guests, and ensure smooth service in a welcoming environment.

Responsibilities include greeting guests, presenting menus, verifying IDs for alcohol service, and maintaining cleanliness and professional appearance. Training is provided, with opportunities for advancement within the property.

Qualifications

• Prior Food Service experience is ideal, but training is provided.
• Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of basic retail math for handling cash.
• Genuine passion for culinary arts and guest service.
• Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure during peak hours.

Responsibilities

• Prepare restaurant tables with attention to sanitation and order.
• Attend to customers upon entrance to the restaurant.
• Present menus and be knowledgeable about offerings.
• Verify guests' IDs to ensure they meet alcohol age requirements.
• Cooperate with serving and kitchen staff to deliver timely service.
• Follow health department rules and customer service guidelines.
• Maintain professional appearance in event staff uniform.
• Offer friendly, attentive service to create memorable dining experiences.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare restaurant tables with special attention to sanitation and order
• Attend to customers upon entrance to the restaurant
• Present menus and be knowledgeable of menu contents, recipes, and restaurant offerings
• Verify guests' identification to ensure they meet age requirements for alcohol consumption
• Have basic knowledge of menu prices, composition of items, preparation techniques, and time of preparation. Must be familiar with daily specials and offers to guests
• Cooperate and communicate with all serving and kitchen staff
• Adhere to all relevant health department rules/regulations and all customer service guidelines
• Dress in appropriate event staff uniform at all times, while also maintaining professional appearance
• Act with the highest level of integrity in every decision

Requirements:

• Prior Food Service experience is ideal, but willing to train the right person. We are dedicated to thoroughly training & developing our team into hotel leaders through interactive teamwork in a positive work environment!
• Knowledge of retail math for handling cash transactions
• A genuine passion for the culinary arts, food, and beverage, with a willingness to continuously learn and grow
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build genuine connections with guests and colleagues
• Familiarity with basic math skills for measuring ingredients and calculating drink prices
• Ability to handle food safely and follow proper food handling procedures
• Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure, ensuring efficient service even during peak dining hour
• Excellent English communication skills and able to read, write and speak fluently

Compensation: $18.40 hourly + tips

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form (Form I-9) upon hire
