Job description

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff (Level 5) Systems Engineer to join the Sentinel Systems Engineering team located in Roy, UT. This role supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production, and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities, and associated infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for Support Equipment.
  • Work with Design, Integrated Logistics Support, Specialty Engineering, and project management to develop Support Equipment for mission operational systems on the Sentinel program.
  • Apply model-based systems engineering (MBSE) practices to support equipment architecture development.
  • Perform analyses at all product lifecycle stages, including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal.
  • Develop systems engineering technical review entry/exit criteria and coordinate with systems engineering, design, and test teams to ensure technical adequacy of artifacts.
  • Provide consulting support to the Chief Engineer on support & training requirements, architecture, and designs, integrating with technical needs of Sentinel program milestones.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 12 years of experience; or master’s degree with 10 years of experience; or PhD with 8 years of experience.
  • U.S. citizen with an active DoD Secret clearance, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period.
  • 3 years of experience using IBM DOORS© and No Magic© CAMEO.
  • 3 years of experience developing system requirements, architectures, and implementation in MBSE processes.
  • 3 years of experience linking requirements to design elements, traceability matrices, and change impact analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience in systems engineering across multiple integration levels.
  • Experience with CAMEO, DOORS, Confluence, and JIRA.
  • Experience developing and maintaining Peculiar (PSE) and Common (CSE) support equipment.
  • Experience leading technical teams on large‑scale aerospace/defense projects.
  • 3 years of experience in systems architecture development.

Work Schedule

Standard schedule: 9/80 (nine-hour days Monday‑Thursday, alternate Fridays off).

Salary

Primary level salary range: $152,900.00 – $229,300.00. Base pay may be adjusted based on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, and market conditions. Overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses may also be available.
