Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer (Level 5) to support the Sentinel program at its Roy, UT facility. You will work on sustaining, developing, producing, and deploying hardware and system modifications for ICBM ground and airborne launch control systems and infrastructure.

The role requires a strong background in cyber security, MBSE, and systems engineering, with DoD RMF/NIST focus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM with 12 years of experience; Master’s with 10 years; or PhD with 8 years.
  • U.S. citizen with active DoD Secret Clearance at time of application.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance and SAP approval within a reasonable period.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with IBM DOORS and Dassault CAMEO.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience developing system architectures and MBSE processes.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with requirements development, derivation, system integration, test, and verification.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience linking requirements to design elements, traceability matrices, and change impact analysis.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Cybersecurity Framework/CMMC or NIST 800‑171 or NIST 800‑53.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a System Engineer, proficient in Cyber Security, providing high‑level technical expertise for the development of support equipment.
  • Design, plan, implement, and assess cyber security controls, policies, and processes to comply with NIST SP 800‑53, CNSSI 1253, and DoD RMF guidance.
  • Provide systems engineering expertise for the design, integration, and testing of support equipment, including cyber requirements development.
  • Conduct advanced technical analyses of cyber infrastructure challenges and propose responsive solutions to meet Sentinel needs.
  • Participate in team reviews of technical requirements, design, and implementation plans before deployment.
  • Ensure product requirements integrate into the total systems solution while respecting technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Present solutions to customers and senior management using audience‑appropriate materials.

  • DoD 8140 intermediate level certification for Security Architect (e.g., CompTIA+ SecurityX/CASP+, CISSP, CSSLP, GSEC or equivalent).
  • Experience modeling and analyzing cybersecurity with Agile methodologies.
  • Certifications at or exceeding IASAE level 1 (CISSP, CASP or CSSLP minimum and CISSP‑ISSEP for Level III).
  • Demonstrated application of DoD 8500‑series and 8510.01 IA policy directives, security procedures, IATT and ATO requirements.

Salary & Working Hours

9/80 schedule: work a nine‑hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Salary range: $152,900.00 – $229,300.00.

Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and long‑term incentive plans depending on position level.
