Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Roy, UT is seeking a Systems Engineer (Level 2) or Principal Systems Engineer (Level 3) to support the Sentinel Program. The role involves hardware and system modifications for ICBM Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems.

The candidate will develop and trace requirements, design architectures with Cameo, and collaborate across IPTs on large-scale designs. A DoD Secret clearance is required at application time.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM is required.

  • 1 year of MBSE/ MBEE experience with tools like Cameo, Rhapsody, or MagicDRAW.

Responsibilities

  • Use case development, requirements allocation, interface definition, and verification.
  • Collaborate with IPT to mature architecture content for large designs.
  • Develop system requirements and ensure representation in models.
  • Design system architecture using Cameo Enterprise Architecture.
  • Contribute to system requirements development and analysis.
  • Develop model techniques and processes for tool and team integration.
  • Be self‑driven, propose solutions with minimal oversight.

Position Overview

Systems Engineer (Level 2) / Principal Systems Engineer (Level 3) supporting the Sentinel Program, located in Roy, UT. The role involves hardware and system modifications for ICBM Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use case development, requirements definition/allocation, functional decomposition, interface definition, verification, validation, and requirements traceability.
  • Collaborate with program IPT counterparts to develop and mature architecture content of large program designs.
  • Develop and incorporate appropriate system requirements, ensuring they are represented in models.
  • Design system architecture using Cameo Enterprise Architecture (behavioral, structural, analytical).
  • Contribute to system requirements development, management, and analysis.
  • Develop unifying model techniques, procedures, and processes for tool integration and team integration.
  • Self‑driven, tackle challenges, solve problems with minimal oversight, and recommend solutions/process improvements to leadership.
Basic Qualifications
Level 2
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM.
  • 2 years of experience (0 years if holding a master’s).
  • Active DoD Secret clearance at time of application.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain SAP approval within a reasonable period.
  • 1 year of experience with requirements management/analysis/allocations or equivalent graduate certificate (e.g., CalTech SE Fundamentals).
  • 1 year of experience with Model-Based Engineering / Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBE/MBSE) practices, languages, and/or tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody, or MagicDRAW, or equivalent graduate certificate (e.g., CalTech MBSE).
  • 1 year of experience with one or more of: C2, physical security, cybersecurity, Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) systems/processes, communications systems, facility design, military aerospace development (e.g., Sentinel, Minute Man III, B-2, B-21 delivery systems).
Level 3
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM with 5 years related experience, or 3 years related experience with master’s, or 1 year with PhD.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance at time of application.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain SAP approval within a reasonable period.
  • 2 years of experience with requirements management/analysis/allocations or equivalent graduate certificate.
  • 2 years of experience with MBE/MBSE practices, languages, and/or tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody, or MagicDRAW, or equivalent graduate certificate.
  • 2 years of experience with one or more of the categories listed above.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of the Systems Engineering V‑Model.
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS.
  • Experience in SysML or UPDM modeling languages.
  • Proficiency with DoDAF, UAF, or other modeling frameworks.
  • 3+ years of modeling with Cameo Enterprise Architecture, MagicDraw, or other architecture modeling tools.
  • Experience using tools to model large systems with multiple developers.
  • Experience exporting documentation from a model‑based environment.
  • Experience in Software and/or Hardware design.
  • Experience documenting Interface Control Documents, Interface Requirement Specifications, and Interface Description Documents.
  • Experience with software‑defined hardware structures (software‑defined radars, FPGA, etc).
  • Experience with modeling and simulation programs such as AFSIM.
  • Experience with applying hypervisors, cross‑domain solutions, multi‑level security systems, or modular open systems approach to integrated systems.
  • Experience with scripting and coding languages such as Python.
  • Experience with Agile Development.
  • Experience with ICBM weapon system sustainment engineering and integration.
  • Experience with complex system development on large programs.

Salary Range

Primary Level: $79,300 – $118,900. Secondary Level: $98,400 – $147,600.
