Environments Capability Lead Sr. Principal Systems Engineer (level 4)

Location: Roy, UT; Bellevue, NE; Huntsville, AL; Manhattan Beach, CA. This position supports the Sentinel program and involves work on the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for ICBM ground and airborne launch control systems.

Relocation assistance may be available. Clearance required for start: Yes. Clearance type: Secret. Travel: Yes, 10% of the time.

Overview

This role will join the Command Systems team leading activities across the ground segment of the Sentinel Weapon System, focusing on requirements definition, architecture, interface definition, verification and validation.

What you will get to do

• Lead a small team of systems engineers to develop systems engineering artifacts for the various communications networks across the Sentinel ground system in a model‑based environment.
• Work with technical teams and stakeholders to mature architecture content for large‐program design.
• Help develop and incorporate appropriate system requirements and ensure they are represented in the model.
• Develop systems architecture using Cameo Enterprise Architecture and other model‑based tools.
• Contribute to system requirements development, management and analysis.
• Develop model techniques, procedures and processes for model development, tool integration and team integration.
• Be self‑driven, tackle challenges, solve problems with minimal oversight and recommend solutions/process improvement to leadership, exhibiting strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Lead activities involving requirements definition and allocation, functional decomposition, interface definition, verification & validation and traceability across the ground segment of the Sentinel Weapon System.
2. Develop and maintain systems engineering artifacts and documentation.
3. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders to ensure architecture and integration requirements are met.
4. Advise on model‑based engineering and best practices to enhance system performance.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM plus 8 years of related experience; 6 years with a Master’s; 4 years with a PhD.
• U.S. citizen with an active DoD Secret clearance at the time of application, investigation completed within the last six years, current and within scope.
• Ability to obtain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period.
• 2+ years experience with requirements management/analysis/allocations.
• 2+ years experience with Model‑Based Engineering / Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBE/MBSE) practices, languages and/or tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody or MagicDraw.
• 2+ years experience with one or more of the following: Command & Control (C2), physical security, cybersecurity, Nuclear Command, Control and Communications (NC3) systems/processes, communications systems, facility design, military aerospace development (e.g., Sentinel, Minute Man III, B‑2, B‑21 delivery systems).

Preferred Qualifications

• Active DoD Top Secret clearance.
• Demonstrated understanding of the Systems Engineering Vee Model.
• 3+ years of experience in model‑based systems engineering.
• Experience documenting Interface Control Documents, Interface Requirement Specifications and Interface Description Documents.
• Understanding of Object‑Oriented Systems Engineering Methodology and systems thinking.
• Excellent collaboration skills across product, design and systems engineering teams with various stakeholder communities.
• Proven experience leading Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Cost (RAM‑C) engineering efforts, defining FMECA and LORA.
• Advanced expertise in Human Factors Engineering (HFE) compliance, user‑interface design, workload modeling and situational awareness for operators in launch control or command facilities.
• Experience authoring and enforcing Program Protection Plans (PPP), identifying Critical Program Information (CPI) and implementing anti‑tamper and supply chain risk mitigations.
• Experience with ICBM weapon system engineering and integration and complex system development on large programs.

Compensation

Primary level salary range: $122,800.00 – $184,200.00. Additional compensation may include overtime, shift differential and discretionary bonus. Long‑term incentive plans for VP or Director positions.

Work Schedule

The standard schedule is 9/80, which allows a nine‑hour day Monday to Thursday with every other Friday off.
