Position Overview
Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer to work with the Sentinel Systems Engineering, Integration, & Test (SEIT) Business Unit. The role supports the Sentinel (GBSD) program and may be located in Huntsville, Alabama or Roy, Utah. Responsibilities include integration of systems-of-systems, analysis of design gaps, and leadership of engineering teams to achieve program objectives.
Responsibilities
- Lead integration activities including test planning, problem identification, reporting, and execution.
- Demonstrate leadership principles such as integrity, respect, and effective communication.
- Develop key systems engineering artifacts such as requirement specifications and interface definition documents.
- Coordinate between SEIT and other integration teams.
- Participate in technical planning, verification and validation development, cost and risk considerations, and requirements analysis for integrated systems.
- Identify risks and opportunities associated with design, systems, or analysis factors.
- Collaborate and communicate with multi‑functional teams and stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to teams during project execution.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, maintaining a positive demeanor and high ethical standards.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in STEM with 12 years of experience; or Master's degree with 10 years of experience; or PhD with 8 years of experience.
- US citizenship with an active US Government Secret Clearance, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
- 10+ years of experience with Agile and cross‑functional Scrum teams.
- 10+ years of experience in Product Owner and Product Manager core responsibilities.
- 4+ years of experience in ICBM (MMIII or Sentinel) or complex aerospace/defense systems.
- 2+ years of experience on large‑scale, complex system development across multiple phases.
- Experience with Systems Engineering program milestone events such as PDR and CDR.
- Customer‑focused mindset with proven leadership and excellent communication skills.
- Experience supporting DoD contracts and/or large supplier management portfolio experience in other industries.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong understanding of complex engineering systems and applicable standards.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with experience delivering high‑value customer presentations.
- Experience executing and boarding Risks, Issues & Opportunities.
- Teamcenter/CPLM experience.
- Continuous Process Improvement experience.
- Experience with Agile.
- Experience creating, updating, and maintaining Model‑Based Systems Engineering products.
- Experience collaborating with multiple functional groups, subcontracts, and government customer representatives.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects.

Salary
Primary Level Salary Range: $152,900.00 – $229,300.00. Base salary offers are determined by scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
Equity and Bonuses
Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and, for certain levels, Long Term Incentives.
