Job summary

Great Lakes Cheese, Inc. seeks an experienced Workers’ Compensation Manager to administer the program across all locations. You will oversee claims, coordinate with HR, EHS, and plant management, and work with TPAs and MCOs to ensure proper handling and timely settlements.

This role requires strong negotiation, regulatory knowledge (ADA/FMLA), MS Office skills, and the ability to travel up to 20%. Domestic travel required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Occupational Safety, or related field, or high school diploma with 6 years’ WC claims experience.
• 2+ years workers’ compensation claims management in a multi-state environment.
• ADA and FMLA interaction knowledge with workers’ compensation cases.
• Strong verbal and written communication across all hierarchical levels.
• Strong negotiation skills with ability to make confident and informed decisions independently.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
• Domestic travel up to 20% based on business needs.

Responsibilities

• Administer the WC program across all GLC locations and business functions.
• Collaborate with HR, EHS and plant management on claim administration, injury reporting, and transitional work programs.
• Interact with TPAs and MCOs to ensure proper handling of claims per organizational objectives.
• Communicate effectively and build cross-functional relationships with HR, EHS, and Operations.
• Schedule and participate in claim conferences to discuss strategy, reserves, and settlement authority.
• Collaborate with Corporate Attorney and claim counsel on high-risk or litigated claims.
• Collaborate with HR when employee has overlapping claims.
• Communicate WC losses and analyze trends in WC claims.
• Manage all aspects of the claim file including reviews for accuracy and payment of bills/settlements.
• Work cross-functionally to streamline policies and Transitional Work Programs.
• Compare current policies to regulations and best practices across the industry.
• Monitor plant application of WC practices and state law.
• Attend ongoing WC training including captive insurance.
• All employees to follow safety policies and perform tasks adhering to GMP/SQP.
