Job summary

Great Lakes Cheese is seeking a Workers’ Compensation Claims Manager to oversee the program across all locations in Ohio. You will help reduce risk by managing claims, coordinating with HR, EHS, and operations, and guiding third-party administrators.

Responsibilities include claim strategy, settlements, and data analysis to identify trends; collaboration with corporate counsel on high-risk cases; and ensuring compliance with state laws and safety policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Occupational Safety, or related field; or HS diploma with 6+ years of claims experience.
• Experience administering workers’ compensation claims in multi-state environments.
• Knowledge of ADA and FMLA interactions with workers’ compensation cases.
• Strong verbal and written communication across all levels; negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Administer the GLC workers’ compensation program across all locations.
• Collaborate with HR, EHS and plant management on injury reporting and claims.
• Interact with TPAs and MCOs to ensure proper claim handling.
• Communicate with HR, EHS, and Operations; build cross-functional relations.
• Schedule claim conferences to discuss strategy, reserves, and settlements.
• Collaborate with Corporate Attorney on high-risk or litigated claims.
• Analyze losses to identify trends in workers’ comp.
• Manage claim files, ensuring payment of bills and settlements.
• Align policies with regulations and best practices across the industry.
• Monitor plant application of workers’ comp practices and state law.
• Attend ongoing training on workers’ comp including captive insurance.
• Adhere to safety policies and Good Manufacturing Practices.
