Job summary

Berkshire Hathaway Direct Insurance Company (BHDIC) is seeking a Senior Workers’ Compensation Claims Representative to manage a multi-jurisdiction caseload and mentor a claims team. This remote role supports the Northeast region and may involve travel for mediations or trainings.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of litigated workers’ compensation experience, strong leadership, and expertise in settlement strategies, reserving, and coordination with medical providers.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience handling litigated workers’ compensation claims.
• Experience in mentoring and coaching claims professionals.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, virtual office environment.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and internet applications.

Responsibilities

• Investigate coverage, determine compensability, and manage a pending of Workers’ Compensation claims across jurisdictions.
• Establish and update reserves and document rationale through the claim life.
• Provide mentorship and training to a claims team and assist with escalated issues.
• Lead onboarding and training for new claims representatives and participate in training material development.
• Collaborate with outside defense counsel to manage litigated files per guidelines.
