Job summary

Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies is seeking an experienced workers' compensation adjuster to join our team. You will investigate claims, determine coverage, calculate reserves, and coordinate with attorneys, medical management, and clients to resolve claims efficiently.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years indemnity adjusting experience, a high school diploma (bachelors preferred), and California adjuster designation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Designated California Claims Adjuster; Self-Insured certification a plus.
• At least 3 years indemnity adjusting experience on large/complex workers' compensation claims.
• Qualifications to adjust CA workers' comp claims maintained.
• Strong analytical mindset and proficient MS Office and databases.

Responsibilities

• Investigates claims via three-point contact to determine coverage, compensability, and severity.
• Calculates reserves and updates as needed per authority guidelines.
• Calculates and administers benefits with timely notices and filings.
• Develops and updates a Plan of Action for claim resolution; updates as information emerges.
• Coordinates with attorneys, nurse case managers, investigators, and other professionals for resolution.
• Prepares litigation referrals and settlement recommendations within authority; communicates with clients and providers.
