Berkshire Hathaway Direct Insurance Company is seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Claims Representative (Northeast) to work fully remotely from anywhere in the continental United States. The role requires handling a caseload of loss time claims across multiple jurisdictions and negotiating settlements under supervision.

Ideal candidates have a minimum of 3 years in workers' comp claims, familiarity with medical terminology, and strong communication and negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in workers' compensation claims.
• Experience handling claims across multiple jurisdictions (e.g., PA, MA, VA, ME, MD).
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience handling lost time or litigated claims.
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Strong organizational, negotiation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Determine compensability and/or coverage issues for loss time workers' compensation claims.
• Manage a caseload of loss time claims from multiple jurisdictions.
• Negotiate and direct settlements under management's review.
• Gather medical and factual evidence to determine compensability.
• Direct outside investigation and handle litigation files within authority.
• Coordinate contact with claimants, attorneys, investigators, rehabilitation personnel, insureds, account liaisons and medical providers.
