Job summary

Michigan Medicine is seeking a Systems Architect Senior within the HITS Windows and VMware Services Team in Ann Arbor. You will shape enterprise systems architecture, focusing on Windows OS, VMware, and hybrid cloud deployments to ensure security, performance, and HIPAA/NIST compliance.

Leading initiatives, automating server builds with PowerShell and Ansible, and partnering with Cloud and Automation teams are core aspects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience implementing and managing Windows Server solutions in an enterprise environment.
• Expert level knowledge of Windows operating systems (2012, 2016, 2019).
• Strong experience in automation of server deployment, common tasks and procedures.
• Expert level experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
• Experience with Cloud architecture / Deployments.
• Experience using Ansible, vRealize Automation or similar products.
• Experience deploying, maintaining, and supporting high performance Windows systems.
• Experience in deploying guest Windows servers in VMware virtual environment.
• Experience in managing Server Hardware Management software.
• Strong security awareness.

Responsibilities

• Provides senior level expertise on decisions and priorities regarding the enterprise's overall systems architecture with focus areas including Public/Hybrid Cloud and Windows OS.
• Architects and implements solutions requiring integration of multiple platforms and applications across the enterprise.
• Collaborates with analysts and engineers to gather requirements and designs high-level solutions.
• Develops and maintains architecture artifacts and standards for integration and changes to technical standards.
• Supports automated server builds and cloud-based workloads using PowerShell, XAML, and Ansible Automation Platform.
• Assists Cloud Architecture with Azure standards and lifecycle considerations.
• Performs on-call rotation and other operational duties for Windows/Cloud/VMware environments.
