Job summary

MSD seeks a Principal IT Infrastructure Engineer to serve as the senior technical authority for core compute and identity infrastructure. You will lead virtualization and containerization, designs across VMware and Nutanix, and drive migration and automation initiatives from Rockville, MD.

In this hybrid onsite role, you will collaborate with storage, security, and application teams, mentor engineers, and ensure compliant, auditable deployments across Windows and Linux environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• 8+ years in enterprise virtualization/containerization environments.
• Senior/principal level work with VMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter.
• Experience with Nutanix and VM migration projects is strongly preferred.
• Hands-on with container platforms in production.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture, design, and hands-on engineering of virtualization and containerization.
• Lead VMware-to-Nutanix migration planning, execution, and validation.
• Design, build, and support Docker/Kubernetes platforms integrated with virtualization.
• Collaborate with storage (Pure Storage) and network teams for resilient solutions.
• Develop automation via PowerCLI, Python, Ansible, Terraform.
