Job summary

Speechify is seeking a Windows desktop engineer to lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows applications. You will work with Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and XAML, contributing to reliable, accessible software used by millions of users.

You will own features end-to-end, drive performance and accessibility improvements, and collaborate with product, design, and QA to shape the Windows roadmap.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Windows desktop app development using Windows App SDK and WinUI.
• Deep understanding of Windows app architecture including interop between .NET and native code.
• Proven track record shipping production desktop apps with reliability, performance, and maintainability.
• Experience with accessibility APIs on Windows and building inclusive software.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, and memory management.
• Experience leading design, mentoring engineers, code reviews, and architecture decisions.
• Strong communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams.
• User-centric mindset focused on polished, accessible UX.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and possibly C++.
• Define and enforce best-practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase: architecture, performance, memory usage, responsive UI, and cross-version compatibility.
• Drive accessibility efforts: ensure UI controls, focus management, keyboard navigation, and screen-reader support.
• Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and stakeholders to shape feature planning and long-term roadmap for Windows platform.
• Take ownership of full lifecycle of features: conception → design → implementation → testing → release → maintenance.
• Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex bugs and performance bottlenecks; propose robust solutions.
