Job summary

Speechify is hiring for a Windows desktop engineer to design and build its next-generation desktop apps using Windows App SDK and WinUI. You will own features end-to-end, from conception through release, with a strong emphasis on reliability, performance, and accessibility.

You will collaborate with UX researchers, designers, and QA to shape a scalable Windows platform, mentor peers, and drive architectural decisions in a distributed, office-free environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Windows desktop development using Windows App SDK, WinUI, and C#; familiarity with native Windows code (C++).
• Deep understanding of Windows architecture, interop between managed (.NET) and native code.
• Proven track record shipping production-quality desktop apps with emphasis on reliability and performance.
• Strong experience with accessibility APIs on Windows and inclusive software.
• Excellent software engineering fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, and memory management.
• Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, and doing architecture decisions.
• Strong communication skills and ability to drive cross-functional consensus.
• User-centric mindset focusing on polished, accessible end-user experiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK and WinUI.
• Define and enforce best practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase.
• Drive accessibility efforts and ensure keyboard navigation, screen reader support, and focus management.
• Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and others to shape feature planning and roadmap.
• Own full lifecycle of features from conception to release and maintenance.
• Diagnose and resolve complex bugs, performance issues, or rendering problems with robust solutions.
