Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking Program Assistants to help plan and facilitate therapeutic recreational programs for our members. You will assist with activities of daily living, serve meals, and help maintain a clean, safe, and uplifting environment.

You will lead by example with a positive attitude, being a thoughtful, dependable coworker, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance member health and happiness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred; minimum 2 years relevant experience.
• 1+ year full-time equivalent experience in a health care setting preferred.
• Experience with seniors/adults with special needs preferred.
• Engaging interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
• Flexibility to work a varied schedule.
• Ability to bend, lift 50 pounds, and stand for extended periods.
• Background check clearance and state regulatory requirements as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist members with activities of daily living and personal care as needed (e.g. arrival and departure, eating, ambulation, transferring, therapies, rest room assistance, etc.).
• Assist in the planning and facilitation of creative and diverse therapeutic recreational programs and encourage member participation.
• Serve meals and snacks and clear tables; assist with feeding as needed.
• Observe members for change in condition or unusual occurrences. Escalate concerns as appropriate.
• Maintain program areas, supplies, and equipment ensuring all are clean, disinfected, stocked, replenished and in good working order.
• Ensure the safety of members by monitoring activities, keeping a sanitary, clutter-free environment, and participating in safety training; actively contribute to creating and maintaining a clean, orderly, bright and welcoming center.
• Communicate in a positive, courteous and professional manner with members and their families, co-workers, referral agencies, and the community at large.
• Participate in staff meetings and in-service educational programs as requested; actively collaborate with cross-functional team, providing feedback and recommendations for enhancing the member experience and achieving the center’s overall goals and objectives.
• Comply with company policies and procedures, safety and regulatory laws and standards.
• Other duties and responsibilities as changed or assigned at any time.
