Job summary

Active Day in Weymouth, MA is seeking a Program Assistant to help plan and facilitate therapeutic recreational programs for members. You will assist with activities of daily living, serve meals, and maintain a clean, welcoming environment while modeling a positive attitude.

You will observe members for changes, support safety, and collaborate with a cross-functional team to enhance the center’s goals and the member experience. Prior healthcare exposure is helpful.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred, or a minimum of two years relevant experience.
• At least one-year full-time equivalent experience in a health care setting preferred.
• Prior experience working with seniors and/or adults with special needs preferred but not required.
• Engaging interpersonal and communication skills.
• Able to multi-task and manage time effectively.
• Able to work a flexible schedule.
• Able to bend, lift 50 pounds; able to stand for an extended period while assisting members.
• Background check clearance and where applicable state regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist members with activities of daily living and personal care as needed (e.g. arrival and departure, eating, ambulation, transferring, therapies, rest room assistance, etc.).
• Assist in the planning and facilitation of creative and diverse therapeutic recreational programs and encourage member participation.
• Serve meals and snacks and clear tables; assist with feeding as needed.
• Observe members for change in condition or unusual occurrences. Escalate concerns as appropriate.
• Maintain program areas, supplies, and equipment ensuring all are clean, disinfected, stocked, replenished and in good working order.
• Ensure the safety of members by monitoring activities, keeping a sanitary, clutter-free environment, and participating in safety training; actively contribute to creating and maintaining a clean, orderly, bright and welcoming center.
• Communicate in a positive, courteous and professional manner with members and their families, co-workers, referral agencies, and the community at large.
• Participate in staff meetings and in-service educational programs as requested; actively collaborate with cross-functional team, providing feedback and recommendations for enhancing the member experience and achieving the center’s overall goals and objectives.
• Comply with company policies and procedures, safety and regulatory laws and standards.
• Other duties and responsibilities as changed or assigned at any time.
