Job summary

Starbucks Coffee Company in Nashville is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Partner Technology team to design and build web and mobile apps used by partners for store readiness and daily experiences.

You will lead across product, design, and QA, delivering accessible, scalable solutions and mentoring engineers while evolving the platform architecture and AI-assisted tooling within a collaborative, on-site environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience building and supporting production web or mobile applications.
• Proficiency with JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Experience building component-based applications using React and/or React Native.
• Experience integrating applications with GraphQL APIs.
• Understanding of modern application architecture, including component design, state management, routing, and mobile navigation.
• Experience with HTML and CSS, including responsive layouts and maintainable styling approaches.
• Working knowledge of accessibility practices, including semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, ARIA, and accessible form design.
• Experience writing unit and integration tests using tools such as Vitest, Jest, or React Testing Library.
• Experience using Git and collaborative pull-request and code-review workflows.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools effectively and responsibly within software development workflows.
• Ability to troubleshoot application issues, support production incidents, and improve application performance and reliability.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with product, design, quality assurance, backend engineering, and other cross-functional partners.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical decisions and trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Build, iterate, and enhance web and mobile applications that support Starbucks partners’ store readiness and day-to-day store experiences.
• Design and deliver reliable, maintainable, scalable, secure, and accessible experiences using modern web and mobile technologies.
• Lead technical design for complex features and help evolve application architecture, engineering standards, and reusable patterns across web and mobile platforms.
• Design resilient integrations between client applications, GraphQL APIs, REST APIs, and backend services.
• Drive improvements in application quality, automated testing, performance, reliability, accessibility, security, and observability.
• Lead and contribute to architecture discussions, technical design reviews, and collaborative code reviews.
• Partner across product, design, backend engineering, quality assurance, operations, and other engineering teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance on complex engineering problems, implementation choices, and technical trade-offs.
• Help evolve the team’s use of AI-assisted development tools and agents while maintaining standards for quality, testing, security, accessibility, and maintainability.
• Contribute to the technical vision and strategy for Partner Technology, including the long-term health of web and mobile applications.
