Canonical is seeking a Senior Web Engineer to build and optimize web-based systems and SAAS, connecting diverse data sources to deliver actionable analytics and visualisations. You will mentor peers, shape data-driven work streams, and collaborate within a distributed team across global locations.

The role emphasizes leadership, quality code, and the ability to drive projects from concept to completion while continuously improving processes and workflows.

Qualifications

• Expert in two or more listed tech areas.
• Proven experience with backend web services.
• Strong knowledge of frontend web technologies (HTML/CSS/JS).
• Experience with data analytics and machine learning.
• Ability to create insightful data visualizations.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver web-based systems and SAAS.
• Provide insights into the Canonical workplace experience.
• Enable new processes and improve existing workflows.
• Collaborate with a distributed team.
• Write high-quality code and reviews.
• Debug issues and fix them with quality code.
• Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge.
• Estimate work and set goals.
• Write project specs and plan epics, assessing risks.
• Ensure completion criteria and push work to completion.
• Connect to data sources and provide visualisations.
• Design databases for connected systems.
• Develop new working practices and tooling.
