Job summary

Canonical seeks a senior data professional who bridges HR analytics with product engineering to shape a next-generation AI/Data stack. The role leads a cross-functional squad, delivering predictive insights and secure, GDPR-compliant data products across global teams in AMER or EMEA regions.

You will mentor analysts and engineers, advance experimentation, and build data-driven solutions that transform insights into valued outcomes while advancing Canonical’s data-driven excellence.

Qualifications

• Background in data science, mathematics, or engineering with advanced statistics and data wrangling.
• Strong skills in Python, R, JavaScript, data visualization, and automation.
• Able to translate business questions into research objectives.
• Able to identify best methodologies to execute research and analyze findings.
• Proven ability to lead and drive teams toward well-planned roadmaps.
• Willingness to travel internationally 2–4 times a year for company events.

Responsibilities

• Multi-Disciplinary Leadership: Lead and mentor a squad of People Data Scientists, Software Engineers, and UX Designers.
• Product Ownership on People Science: Bridge the gap between HR-speak and Dev-speak for engineers.
• Strategic Insight & Business Outcomes: Move from descriptive metrics to predictive and prescriptive insights.
• Data Stewardship & Product Storytelling: Translate data models into narratives; develop AI Agents for real-time insights.
• Effectiveness at Work Strategy: Leverage high-tech solutions to free time for high-touch human involvement.
