Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a technically strong workers’ compensation underwriter to steer a growing WC portfolio. You’ll underwrite complex referrals across multiple states, assessing exposures, losses, structure, and pricing recommendations to support profitability and portfolio health.

Bring 7+ years of WC experience, strong data/financial analysis skills, and knowledge of state requirements. Designations such as AU, ARM, CPCU are a plus and will help guide leadership and partner interactions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of workers' compensation experience (underwriting or similar).
• Ability to underwrite complex, multi-state WC risks using data and financial information.
• Knowledge of WC coverages, rating plans, and state requirements; AU/ARM/CPCU designations are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite complex WC program and large account referrals end-to-end, including exposures and pricing recommendations.
• Use pricing tools, actuarial input, and financial analysis to set sound terms and structures.
• Assess jurisdictional risk and incorporate regulatory nuances into decisions.
• Partner with Finance, Actuarial, Claims, Risk Control and Operations to align on risk quality and improvement plans.
• Serve as primary WC underwriting contact for program administrators / MGUs and MGAs.
