Job summary

Unison Risk Advisors is seeking a Senior Claims Adjuster to independently manage complex, high-exposure Workers’ Compensation claims in multiple jurisdictions. You will apply advanced knowledge in compensability, medical management, and litigation to develop effective strategies and resolutions.

The role includes mentoring junior staff, supporting client relationships, and contributing to claim quality and process improvements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; college coursework preferred.
• 5+ years of progressively responsible workers’ compensation lost time claims handling, including complex or litigated claims.
• Active adjuster licenses and continuing education for assigned jurisdictions.
• Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Ability to mentor peers and manage multiple priorities under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, evaluate, and manage complex, high-exposure, litigated workers’ compensation claims.
• Determine compensability through timely investigations and jurisdictional requirements.
• Develop strategic action plans addressing compensability, medical treatment, disability, and reserves.
• Coordinate medical treatment and review documentation according to AMA standards.
• Manage litigation strategy, budgets, discovery, and settlement processes.
• Prepare claim status updates and provide strategic recommendations to clients and carriers.
• Mentor developing adjusters on claim-handling standards and compliance.
