Job summary

Langan is seeking a Senior Project Engineer/Manager to lead mission critical water and wastewater work for data centers nationwide. You will guide due diligence, water sourcing, discharge strategies, and regulatory permitting, mentoring staff and coordinating across offices to deliver comprehensive water solutions.

In this role you will support the growth of Langan's water and environmental compliance services, collaborating with utilities, regulators, and clients to navigate complex permitting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or closely related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 12+ years in environmental field; minimum 5 years as a project manager in a consulting env.
• Professional certification or on track to obtain (e.g., PE, CHMM).
• Knowledge of water/wastewater treatment technologies and regulatory obligations.

Responsibilities

• Lead water due diligence for data center developments, including source water assessments and regulatory constraints analyses.
• Develop water sourcing strategies across municipal, groundwater, surface water, and reclaimed supplies.
• Advance wastewater discharge strategies including NPDES permitting and water reuse.
• Coordinate with engineering teams on water and wastewater infrastructure planning.
• Provide regulatory guidance on water treatment, cooling water systems, and water reuse applications.
• Collaborate with utilities, municipalities, and regulators on complex water challenges.
• Lead water strategy development through project lifecycle from due diligence to operations.
• Provide regulatory oversight for Safe Drinking Water Act compliance programs.
• Lead national response for NOVs, enforcement negotiations, and inspections.
• Support treatability studies, system upgrades, and startup of treatment systems.
• Lead and support proposal development and project execution planning.
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget, invoicing, and change management.
• Identify growth opportunities and support business development within water/environmental practices.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across offices to deliver integrated solutions.
• Serve as technical advisor to clients, regulators, and project stakeholders.
