Job summary

Apex Companies is seeking a Managing Engineer to lead a team of engineers on water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the planning, design, bidding, and construction phases. The role focuses on delivering high-quality solutions while expanding client relationships and regional workload in the western United States.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering (or related field).
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Utah (or ability to obtain).
• 10+ years of water/wastewater engineering experience.
• Experience with proposals, scopes, budgets, and project execution.
• Strong staff mentorship and performance management capabilities.
• Experience with strategic planning and client development.
• Excellent verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of engineers on water/wastewater projects from planning through construction.
• Drive operational excellence by monitoring schedules, budgets, and quality.
• Strengthen client relationships and secure new work through responsive engineering solutions.
• Mentor staff to build a high-performing, quality-driven culture.
• Develop client relationships and identify new business opportunities through networking and proposals.
• Partner with division leadership on strategic planning and western regional client management.
• Play a central role in talent development, succession planning, and organizational sustainability.
