Job summary

Langan seeks a Project Engineer/Manager - Water and Wastewater to support its growing national water practice. You will help with due diligence, water sourcing, and discharge strategies for data centers, industrial clients, and utilities across the United States.

The role requires 6+ years in environmental engineering with at least 2 years in project management, PE or CHMM is a plus, and strong communication and team leadership skills. Comprehensive benefits offered with full-time employment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or closely related field; Master’s preferred.
• 6+ years in environmental field with at least 2 years as a project manager in a consulting environment.
• Professional certification or on track to obtain (PE, CHMM).
• Working knowledge of water/wastewater treatment technologies and regulatory obligations.
• Ability to manage multiple clients, projects and staff.
• Excellent written and verbal communication plus analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Support water due diligence efforts for data center developments, including water supply analyses and regulatory constraints.
• Develop and implement water sourcing strategies across diverse regulatory environments.
• Advance wastewater discharge strategies, including NPDES permitting and land application.
• Coordinate with engineering teams on water and wastewater infrastructure planning and interface design.
• Provide regulatory guidance on water treatment, wastewater treatment, and water reuse applications.
• Collaborate with utilities, municipalities, agencies, and clients to navigate permitting challenges.
• Support water strategy development through full project lifecycle: due diligence to operations.
• Provide oversight for Safe Drinking Water Act compliance programs and regulatory inspections.
• Support NOVs response, corrective actions, and enforcement negotiations.
• Assist treatability studies and optimization of treatment systems.
• Contribute innovative engineering solutions for emerging contaminant treatment.
• Assist proposal development, scope and budget planning.
• Manage project delivery including scope, schedule, budget, invoicing and change management.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across offices to deliver integrated solutions.
• Serve as technical advisor to clients, regulators, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Collaborate in multi-office teams on nationwide projects.
