Job summary

ERG is seeking a Senior Civil/Environmental Engineer to join the Water and Wastewater Engineering team. You will collaborate with EPA, state agencies, utilities, and others to address water quality, resources, and infrastructure challenges.

This role offers opportunities to apply technical expertise to protect public health and the environment. You will supervise staff, support funding strategies, advance treatment technologies, and lead engineering reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in chemical, environmental, civil, or related engineering discipline.
• 20–25 years of experience in water resources management and wastewater treatment.
• Strong ability to develop comprehensive engineering reports from early assessments to final design.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting, and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff providing technical assistance to small, underserved water and wastewater utilities nationwide.
• Support utilities in securing funding and in designing, constructing, and maintaining sustainable water infrastructure.
• Assess innovative water/wastewater treatment technologies and promote adoption.
• Evaluate design, costs, feasibility, and environmental impacts of projects.
• Lead preparation, review, and delivery of engineering reports.
• Manage environmental sampling and field surveys; analyze results and prepare technical reports.
• Provide guidance on eligibility and requirements for federal water/wastewater funding programs.
• Lead business development activities including identifying opportunities and client relationships.
