ERG is seeking a Senior Civil/Environmental Engineer to join our Water and Wastewater Engineering team in Alexandria, Virginia. In this role you will collaborate with the U.S.

Environmental Protection Agency, state agencies, utilities, and other organizations to address pressing challenges related to water quality, water resources, and infrastructure. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical, environmental, civil, or related engineering discipline.
• 20–25 years of progressively responsible experience in water resources management, wastewater treatment, and the design of municipal systems.
• Expertise in developing engineering reports from preliminary assessments to final design.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and compliance standards.
• Knowledge of federal water and wastewater funding programs, financing mechanisms, and eligibility requirements.
• Excellent technical writing, verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead, mentor, and manage technical staff while delivering high-quality work and meeting client objectives.
• Collaborative leadership style with strong client relations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage staff providing technical assistance to small, underserved water utilities nationwide.
• Assess and promote innovative water treatment technologies and develop practical resources to reduce adoption barriers.
• Evaluate design, costs, feasibility, and environmental impacts of projects.
• Guide preparation, review, and delivery of preliminary engineering reports.
• Manage environmental sampling and field survey programs; analyze results and prepare reports.
• Provide guidance on eligibility and requirements for federal water funding programs, including State Revolving Fund.
• Lead business development, including identifying opportunities, developing client relationships, and supporting proposals.
