Job summary

Eastern Research Group, Inc. (ERG) seeks a Senior Civil/Environmental Engineer to join its Water and Wastewater Engineering team in Arlington, VA.

You will collaborate with EPA, state agencies, and utilities to address water quality, resources, and infrastructure challenges. You will supervise staff, lead proposals, and guide engineering reports from concept to final design, while ensuring regulatory compliance and project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in chemical, environmental, civil, or related engineering discipline.
• 20-25 years of progressively responsible experience in water resources management, wastewater treatment, and design of municipal water/wastewater systems.
• Strong ability to develop comprehensive engineering reports from preliminary assessments to final design.
• Familiarity with environmental regulations, permitting, and compliance standards.
• Knowledge of federal water and wastewater funding programs and eligibility requirements.
• Excellent technical writing, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage staff while meeting financial and project objectives.
• Collaborative leadership style to motivate teams and build client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage staff providing technical assistance to underserved water utilities nationwide.
• Assess and promote innovative water and wastewater treatment technologies.
• Evaluate design, costs, feasibility, and environmental impacts of projects.
• Guide preparation, review, and delivery of engineering reports.
• Manage environmental sampling and field surveys; produce technical reports.
• Provide guidance on eligibility and requirements for federal funding programs.
• Lead business development, client relationships, and proposals.
