Job summary

Kingfisher Recruiting partners with a northern New Jersey engineering firm to recruit a Water Resources Design Engineer (Water or Wastewater). The role supports design of treatment facilities, pumping stations, and networks in Parsippany or Sparta with hybrid flexibility.

The candidate should have 5–10 years of hands-on water/wastewater design, a PE or near-term licensure, and strong NJDEP knowledge. A technical track and a discretionary year-end bonus are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field.
• 5-10 years of hands on water and wastewater design experience.
• PE license, or close enough that you will have it within roughly six to twelve months.
• Strong working knowledge of NJDEP regulations and permitting, plus the relevant federal standards: EPA, CWA, SDWA.
• AutoCAD, and the technical writing to produce reports and specifications that stand on their own.
• A genuine preference for staying technical.
• Nice to have: experience with funding applications and the State Revolving Fund process, and with municipal and utility clients.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineering: Plan and design water and wastewater facilities, pumping stations, storage facilities, and distribution and collection systems per standards.
• Feasibility and planning studies: Hydraulic, process and environmental evaluations under EPA and NJDEP guidelines.
• Technical documentation: Calculations, reports, specs, estimates and contract docs per NJDEP and NPDES criteria.
• Regulatory coordination: Lead and support NJPDES permits and related approvals.
• Site investigations: Field assessments and site inspections for design and construction.
• Cross disciplinary collaboration: Coordinate with structural, civil and MEP groups, vendors and subs.
• Mentorship: Guide junior staff on technical work and regulatory knowledge.
