Job summary

Scalable Sourcing is seeking a Water Resources Design Engineer (Water or Wastewater) in New Jersey to lead design on municipal, utility, and environmental projects. The role anchors technical work, collaborating with PMs, and delivering complete designs that meet regulatory standards.

You will own the design process, mentor junior staff, and contribute to regulatory coordination while maintaining a strong technical focus. Hybrid work is available with flexible arrangements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or closely related field.
• 5-10 years of hands-on water and wastewater design experience.
• PE license or plan to obtain within 6–12 months.
• Strong working knowledge of NJDEP regulations and federal standards (EPA, CWA, SDWA).
• Ability to produce clear engineering reports and technical specifications.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer water and wastewater facilities, pumping stations, storage, and distribution systems to standards.
• Conduct feasibility and planning studies using hydraulic, process, and environmental evaluations.
• Prepare engineering calculations, reports, specs, and cost estimates per NJDEP/NPDES criteria.
• Coordinate regulatory permits including NJPDES and TWA through NJBPU/Bureau of Water System Engineering.
• Perform site investigations and support construction phase activities.
• Collaborate with structural, civil and MEP teams and with vendors/subcontractors.
• Mentor junior staff in technical work and regulatory procedures.
