Job summary

City of Houston is seeking a Wastewater Operations Technician to help maintain and operate the city's wastewater utility. You will troubleshoot, operate standard equipment, and assist with tasks that do not require licenses within the sewer system.

This safety‑sensitive, rotating‑schedules position requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid Texas driver license, and preference for applicants with sewer maintenance experience or veteran status.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six months of general maintenance or related experience preferred.
• Valid Texas Driver License required with city policy compliance.

Responsibilities

• Operate and assist driving small jet units to clear sewer mains and laterals.
• Assist rodding, cleaning, and televising sewer lines and inspect sites.
• Transport equipment and materials to work locations with trucks.
• Prepare and maintain reports and records for operations and service calls.
• Perform maintenance tasks for the wastewater collection system.
• Locate and report damaged manholes, sewer lines, and cleanouts.
