The City of Houston seeks a skilled maintenance worker for the Houston Water/Drinking Water Operations. This on-site role maintains water systems, performs inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on pumps, motors, piping and related equipment across multiple sites.
Candidates should have three years of mechanical maintenance experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing ladders and lifting up to 80 pounds.

This position involves considerable physical exertion, such as regular climbing of ladders, lifting heavy objects (up to 80 pounds) on a highly frequent basis and/or assuming awkward position for long periods of time.
Knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and mathematical functions as might be acquired through specialized training of up to nine months of education or training beyond the high school level. May require simple vocational competence in the operation of mechanical or electronic equipment.
Three (3) years of building or mechanical maintenance are required, or one (1) year as an operator trainee and two (2) years in building or mechanical maintenance.
One (1) year of directly related college or vocational education may be substituted for up to one year of work experience.
Requires a valid Driver License and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving (AP 2-2).
Preference will be given to candidates with training and experience in the corrective and preventive maintenance programs related to equipment such as centrifugal pump maintenance, motors, air compressors, piping, blowers, valves, and hydraulic equipment.
