Job summary

City of Houston is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician for the Houston Water/Drinking Water Operations. The role covers maintenance of water systems, preventive maintenance on rotating equipment, and service calls across various sites.

Qualifications

Three (3) years of building or mechanical maintenance experience.
One (1) year as operator trainee plus two (2) years in building or mechanical maintenance.
One year of related college or vocational education may substitute for up to one year of work experience.

Responsibilities

Performs skilled mechanical duties in the maintenance of water systems and facilities.
Performs inspections, preventive maintenance, lubrications and repairs on rotating equipment, piping, pumps, motors, blowers, compressors, valves, lines, water systems, facilities, and equipment.
Maintains and repairs equipment and tools used to perform responsibilities.
Collects and catalogs data on installed equipment.
Makes service calls to maintain and repair equipment and install equipment identification tags.
Reports unsafe conditions and equipment to proper authorities and keeps records of service calls, maintenance and repair work.
May drive a City vehicle and maintain vehicle maintenance and mileage records.
