McMillen, Inc. is seeking a Senior Structural Managing Engineer to lead diverse water resources projects from concept to commissioning in Newport Beach, CA.

The role emphasizes strong technical background, client relationship development, and cross-discipline leadership across fisheries, hydropower, and water infrastructure. The candidate will manage project plans, risks, scopes, and budgets while coordinating with practice leads and operations managers to deliver high-quality solutions for

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited University.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 18+ years of experience in civil, and/or hydraulic engineering.
• Professional Engineering registration is required. California PE registration strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with water resource infrastructure including fishery related projects, water conveyance, storm water networks, heavy grading, water treatment, wastewater treatment and pump stations.
• Familiarity with Federal Agency codes and requirements, including FERC, USACE, USBR.
• Regular, predictable attendance is required.
• Ability to get along and work effectively with others.

Responsibilities

• Develop, manage, and maintain client relationships; participate in professional service organizations and conferences.
• Identify project opportunities, pursue opportunities, and prepare proposals; plan strategies with clients.
• Conduct kick-off meetings with key stakeholders and review the project plan.
• Identify risks, assumptions, and constraints using data and judgment.
• Manage changes to scope, schedule, and costs; maintain updated project plan.
• Set expectations aligned with the Project Plan for stakeholders and team members.
• Lead multi-discipline teams across water resources projects.
• Measure project performance and communicate variances to stakeholders.
• Execute tasks to achieve project goals.
• Define roles to create a project organization and communication plan.
• Mitigate project risk events with approved actions and workarounds.
• Improve team performance through leadership and mentoring.
• Design review and evaluation of water infrastructure projects; pipeline storage and pump station design.
• Prepare planning reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for water, recycled water, and wastewater projects.
• Oversee design and construction support services for water infrastructure projects.
• Design storm water management systems for water quality and quantity control.
• Prepare drainage, erosion and sediment control, utility relocation and ROW plans.
