Job summary

McMillen, Inc. is hiring a Senior Structural Managing Engineer to lead complex water resources projects across fisheries, hydropower, flood control, and treatment facilities.

You will guide multi-disciplinary teams, manage client relationships, and shape project strategy from feasibility through commissioning. The role requires a Civil/Structural Engineering background, 18+ years of experience, and PE registration (California preferred).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required.
• Master’s degree preferred for advanced leadership roles.
• 18+ years of experience in civil, and/or hydraulic engineering.
• Professional Engineering registration required; California PE registration strongly preferred.
• Experience with water resource infrastructure including fishery projects, water conveyance, storm water networks, water treatment and pump stations.
• Familiarity with agencies like FERC, USACE, USBR.

Responsibilities

• Develop, manage, and maintain client relationships and participate in professional service activities.
• Identify opportunities, prepare proposals, and coordinate with Practice Leads and Operations Managers.
• Lead kick-off meetings and define project plans, risks, and constraints.
• Manage changes to scope, schedule, and costs; ensure alignment with the Project Plan.
• Guide multi‑discipline teams across water resources projects and monitor progress with appropriate tools.
• Design and evaluate water infrastructure, including treatment facilities and distribution/conveyance systems.
• Prepare planning reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for water and wastewater projects.
