Job summary

St. Johns River Water Management District is seeking a Senior Professional Engineer to lead regional water resource infrastructure projects through design and construction in Apopka, FL. The role requires PE licensure in Florida and extensive project management experience.

You will oversee scope, schedule, budget, and risk, review consultant deliverables, ensure QA/QC, and coordinate with stakeholders to advance major pipelines, dams, reservoirs and related facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental, civil, hydraulic, structural, agricultural, or water resource engineering.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in Florida (or ability to obtain within one year).
• Five years of subsequent civil engineering experience.
• Ability to work outdoors in Florida and conduct fieldwork as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead major engineering projects through design and construction with scope, schedule, budget, and risk management.
• Apply engineering judgment to assess effects on scope, schedule, budget, operations and risk.
• Review consultant deliverables including plans, specs, cost estimates, and submittals.
• Ensure QA/QC requirements for completeness, accuracy, operability, and maintainability.
• Monitor project performance and communicate risks and status to management.
• Oversee consultant services and assist construction administration to meet objectives.
• Lead procurement activities including bids, contracts, and work orders.
