Enjoy work-life balance in a professional culture with competitive pay and benefits.

The District seeks an experienced professional engineer to lead regional water resource infrastructure projects through design and construction. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with pipelines, high-hazard dams, levees, reservoirs, and other water resource development projects. This senior-level project management role provides technical oversight, manages project risks, and requires sound engineering judgment throughout project development and implementation.

What You'll Do
  • Lead major engineering projects through design and construction, managing scope, schedule, budget, and risk.
  • Apply technical expertise and engineering judgment to evaluate project decisions and their potential effects on scope, schedule, budget, operations, and risk.
  • Review and approve consultant deliverables, including technical memoranda, reports, plans, specifications, design submittals, cost estimates, schedules, fee proposals, invoices, and contract documents.
  • Ensure work products meet established quality assurance and quality control requirements for completeness, accuracy, constructability, operability, and maintainability.
  • Monitor project performance and communicate significant risks, issues, decisions, and status updates to management.
  • Oversee consultant services and support construction administration to achieve project objectives.
  • Lead design and construction procurement activities, including bids, contracts, and work orders.
Key Skills for Success
  • Leading technical project management for heavy civil and water resource infrastructure projects.
  • Conducting quality assurance and quality control reviews of engineering deliverables.
  • Developing, negotiating, and administering scopes of work, professional services agreements, work orders, contract amendments, fees, and schedules.
  • Managing consultants and coordinating with contractors, regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and project partners.
  • Reviewing and approving plans, specifications, technical reports, schedules, cost estimates, invoices, and contract documents.
  • Identifying and mitigating project risks and resolving issues before they materially affect cost, schedule, quality, safety, or operations.
  • Procurement planning, consultant selection, contract administration, and construction support.
  • Communicating technical, contractual, and financial information clearly.
