Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to lead design and implementation of water infrastructure projects in Welkom. You will manage the delivery of water supply, wastewater, and stormwater systems, with emphasis on hydrology, hydraulics, and modelling.

The role requires PE registration, 8+ years of experience, and strong leadership and communication to guide junior staff and coordinate with clients and regulators.

Qualifications

• BEng/BSc or MEng/MSc in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is required.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in water resources engineering, including design and project management.
• Proficiency in hydrological and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, EPANET, SWMM, MIKE Suite).
• Strong understanding of South African water legislation, standards, and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptualization, design, and optimization of water supply systems, wastewater treatment plants, and stormwater management infrastructure.
• Conduct hydrological and hydraulic analyses for rivers, dams, and urban drainage systems.
• Develop and apply water resource models to assess water availability, demand, and the impact of infrastructure projects.
• Prepare detailed engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, and tender documents.
• Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively to ensure successful project delivery.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff.
• Collaborate with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure project alignment and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee site investigations and construction supervision for water infrastructure projects.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in water engineering technologies and best practices.
