About the Role

Our client, a prominent engineering consultancy specializing in water and sanitation infrastructure, is looking for a highly skilled Senior Civil Engineer to join their team in Welkom, Free State . This role is pivotal in the design, planning, and execution of critical water supply, wastewater treatment, and stormwater management projects across the region. You will be leading a team of engineers and technicians, providing technical expertise, and ensuring the successful delivery of complex projects. We are seeking an experienced professional with a deep understanding of water resource management, hydraulic engineering principles, and relevant South African standards. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of water supply schemes, wastewater treatment plants, and stormwater drainage systems.
• Conduct hydraulic modeling and analysis for water distribution networks and sewer systems.
• Prepare detailed engineering designs, specifications, tender documents, and construction drawings.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively, ensuring timely and cost-efficient project completion.
• Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering their professional growth.
• Liaise with clients, government authorities (e.g., municipalities, Department of Water and Sanitation), and other stakeholders.
• Conduct site visits and provide technical support during construction phases.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, SANS standards, and environmental regulations.
• Review and approve designs and technical reports prepared by team members.
• Contribute to proposals and business development efforts for new projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.).
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, with a strong focus on water and sanitation infrastructure projects.
• Proven expertise in hydraulic design, water treatment processes, and wastewater management.
• Proficiency in relevant design software such as WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, EPANET, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Strong project management skills and experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of public procurement processes and municipal infrastructure requirements in South Africa.
• Experience working within the Welkom or broader Free State region is advantageous.
